Looking to buy a guitar in Takasaki

Hey everyone!

So I'm in the market for a Les Paul and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any great music shops in Takasaki that I can head to? I'm going to check out Aeon Mall, of course, but is there anywhere I shouldn't miss? I'm looking for some friendly staff and a wide selection... ;)

Yarr. I like naps.

Besides the aforementioned

Besides the aforementioned Aeon Mall (Shimamura Music), there are a couple of music stores around the station.

The instrument store at Keyaki Walk has an assortment of genuine Les Pauls as well as Les Paul lookalikes and knockoffs.

Dust Bowl

Check out the DustBowl (Takasaki, Maebashi, Isesaki) http://www.dustbowl.co.jp/studio/tak_studio.shtml

Also there's a music store upstairs from the "Lottoria" fast food joint, near Immigration in Takasaki. I can't remeber the name of it, but if you find the Lottoria, walk up the street about 10 meters and you'll see an gianormous mural of the Beatles, go upstairs.

And it sounds like you found the Shimamura Music in Aeon Takasaki. There's also one in the Keyaki Walk in Maebashi.

And instead of me repeating the same question twice, I'd be interested in reading your post if you left one here: http://gunmajet.net/node/1695

I will also include that I hate your guts cause I really want a Les Paul but there's no way that I can afford a 300,000yen guitar right now ;-)

The one near the Lottoria is the RockInn I mentioned.

Anyway, honestly, don't go for the real Gibson Les Paul since they cost way more here and you really have to go through a lot of them just to find a good one. You'll find decent ones made by Edwards or Grassroots, which are both subsidiaries of ESP Guitars.

You too

Many thanks!

Appreciate the feedback! I'll definitely check out those places. I'm kind of in love with the Gibsons, though, so I have my heart set on something authentic. I'm not good enough to jam yet, so it'll be a while before I can start playing anywhere other than the privacy of my apartment.

While I've already given my two cents, I gotta ask, why are you set on Gibson?

Hard Off

I would highly recommend ignoring any high street shop (no bartering allowed) and getting yourself down to the numerous (and amusingly titled) Hard-Off stores.

They normally stock a great selection of axes, pedals and amps and 9 times out of 10 they are half the price of new. I kid yee not. Since coming to Japan I've spent a fortune!

Takasaki has a new one, Maebashi ditto, Isesaki has 2....the list goes on.....Ask about - they are huge stores most people will know the location...try a cute chick at 7-11 ;)

For a Les Paul (depending on the specs) you could get one for as low as 100,000 yen. I have a faded S.G - a mere 41,000 yen!!

I'm a gear hound and love shopping for guitar related crap, my band occasionally rehearses up Takasaki way.

If you still need one I can keep my eyes open for you and let you know what I can locate :)

Mark.
