Spam and User & Post Deletions

Hi all,

Some of you might have noticed that we are getting a decent amount of spam these days. I'm doing my best to stay on top of it, but it does creep in.

We are going to start a few new policies to try and curb spamming and to make spammers easier to delete.

1) Users that are inactive for over one year will be deleted. Lowering the amount of users will make it a touch easier to spot spammers. (Also, this will make many common names available as user names.)

2) A lot of the spammers tend to latch onto 'flea market' posts. (I'm sure we're all tired of seeing Erin's car.) So, once your item is sold/bought if the original poster could post an "okay for deletion" comment, I would appreciate it.

I don't know how effective either one of these new initiatives will be, but I'm willing to try.

Spammer retaliation... classic!

Wow, seems you really upset them now, Brent!

Yo,

What are they trying to tell us???

There's a message in there somewhere...either it has something to do with our suddenly needing a knock-off handbag or that we should start studying Chinese...
Agreeing with Dario. Pandora's box has been cracked open. Save us! :)

Wow!

By looking closely into the spam I have now attained nirvana.

Peace out.

New Round of Inactive User Deletion Soon!

With the new JETs coming soon, as the new webmaster, I'll be doing another round of cleaning of accounts that have been inactive for a year or more.

Just wanted to let you all know.
