Is anyone my predecessor?

Hi,

I am moving to Takasaki-shi in August. Just wondering if anyone knows who my predecessor is?

Thanks

School?

Do you know what school you'll be going to yet? Should be easy enough to find out if you do.

Takasaki

No I don't yet, I have been told I am being sent my contract etc so hopefully soon.

All I have been told is Gunma-ken, Takasaki-shi. Does that mean I will be teaching elementary and junior high?

Thank you for your help :-)

School

It could mean anything at this point in time. Elementary, Junior, High School, maybe a mix. Based on the people who I know are leaving though I'd say you're most likely going to be teaching Junior High. Don't hold me to that though. Takasaki is the biggest city in Gunma so there are probably people who are going home that I don't know about from any level of school.

Thank You

Awesome, thank you for your help! Hopefully my predecessor will contact me at some stage before the end of July. I am happy for any year level :-)

city placement

If your placement is Takasaki-shi, Gunma-ken your BOE is Takasaki city. Most (or all) of the high school ALTs are prefectural, so you're probably not at a high school.

Most of us haven't heard who is replacing us yet, so be patient for now. At least you can start researching about Takasaki until you hear from your pred.

Yes I didn't think you guys

Yes I didn't think you guys would know yet. Just putting it out there and will now wait for someone to find me :-)

Gunma and Takasaki sound like great places!

Thank you for your help.

Tornadoes?

I have seen in a few places that Gunma gets tornadoes? Is this true? If so what is someone meant to do in the event of one? We don't get tornadoes where I am from.

Follow the yellow brick road...

Ha! Where did you see this? I'm from NZ, and I've seen more Tornadoes in NZ than here. Really not something to worry about.

Was prolly that one that hit

Was prolly that one that hit Tatebayashi last year.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my.

I stand corrected. Now, I want a tornado to come and suck up my neighbour's house and dump it in Guam.

Tornadoes?

Can't say I've ever really noticed any. Not that there aren't, but they must be pretty rare.

Gunma is actually pretty safe on the natural disaster front. We don't get many earthquakes, just a few shakes every now and then. Plus, we are far enough inland so when Typhoons come it typically means a day or more of strong rain, but generally nothing to fret about.

Sure, we do live relatively near an active volcano, but it pretty much minds its own business.
