Kiryu Apartment Suggestions

In Need of Help

Hey Kiryu people,

A teacher friend contacted me because her Kiryu high school (I forget which one exactly) will be getting their first JET this year and she needs to find him/her an apartment. Since I don't know Kiryu that well I figured I'd ask the locals. Does anyone have any suggestions of good apartments? Any preferred parts of town? Do all the Kiryu JETs live in the same general area, or are they spread out all over the place? Would living in neighboring cities be preferable? Any info would be appreciated.

We all live spread out. Most of us live close to our schools.

Depends on what you want. Do you want to be close to the station, supermarkets, bars, stores? By close, I mean biking distance, walking? If so, I'd look more in the centre of town. If you're planning on getting a car, then anywhere will likely be ok.....

I live about a 20 mins bike ride from the centre of town...which is not bad when it's not rainy season or I just want a 5 minute stumble home after the bar......If I had the choice, I would have liked to live in the centre of town, but that's because I prefer to walk places......

I have moved twice by myself. As long a the prefectural office is willing to co-sign she or he can use any realetatse company. I recommend kentaku or accor, the both have websites.

If you don't care about the quality or age of your apartment, real estate gunma might be ok.

Most important thing to check is if the prefectural office is going to cover your shishikin (deposit) and so on. If they will you should be able to get a decent place quite easily.

As for location, depending on where you are working and if you have a license, i would recommend Aioi, Omama area (suburbs) and any where west of there. Gunma and Tokyo are more accessible from that area.
