Hi everyone! My name is Ashley aaaand I just got here on Wednesday...

I'm a new JET in Maebashi! I am sending out a feeler, because I have no clue how to find or meet people in this area (especially without a phone -- or Internet outside of work/cafes)... Will anyone be around this weekend? I would kill for someone to show me around Maebashi, or even just someone to eat a meal/grab a beer with. If anyone is around, let me know! :) Maybe we could meet up at some point.

Hey, Ashley -- welcome to Maebashi! You just missed the rain, fortunately...

A bar called Freestyle (owned by a former ALT) is having a pre-moving party on Saturday night It's pretty conveniently located in central Maebashi. There's also a karaoke party planned to welcome the new ALTs -- I think that's on the 10th. Pretty much everyone is on facebook.

What area of Maebashi do you live in, who are you replacing, and what school are you at? That would probably help a lot for people trying to recommend things in your area -- especially if you only walk or have a bicycle.

There's also a big Maebashi ALT meeting before the summer seminar; that's sometime toward the end of the month, I think.

I am near Ooshima station, I replaced Sayoko Miller, and I am at Maebashi East HS! I may stop by Freestyle tonight, if I can find it. :) Thanks so much!

Oh, high school... definitely not going to be at the meeting, then. If you're by Maebashi Ooshima, then there's a big bowling alley/amusement center there called Round One. Most of the bars people go to are in central Maebashi, north of Maebashi Station.
