Hi everyone. As was previously stated, the aim of the inaugural beer garden is for us all to have a good time - but also, one of the important functions it serves is to allow the new JETs to meet recontracting people and vice-versa.

GAJET decided to put this event on the first Saturday after the Maebashi orientation, in order to mirror last year's arrangements - unfortunately the dates are different, and the new JETs won't have their first new paycheck until Tuesday.

The general feeling at the Maebashi orientation was to cancel this event, and reschedule it for another weekend. Given that the end of the month can be a thin time for all of us, not just new JETs, it seemed like a good idea.

If you know anyone that planned to go, please share this notice with them so as to be sure they know. Many new JETs may not have internet access, so please spread the word.

You can of course still go - the beer garden will still be there - however it will not be an official GAJET event.

The beer garden costs around 2800y for men, and 2400y for women. That's 4 hours all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat.

It also finishes early enough so most people can get the train home; check http://www.hyperdia.com to be sure though!

Takashimaya beer garden is on the roof of Takashimaya department store, Takasaki. It's a big building, just on the right as you exit the west side of Takasaki station (if you need any help, contact your region rep).

Is this only open to JETs?

There aren't any real private parties at the beer garden, and the events organized by GAJET are almost always open to any one and every one.
